ROCKET MEN

The Tolucan Times says...

‘Rocket Men’ Is a Polished and Will-Directed Production." Rocket Men is given a splendid sendoff in a polished and well-directed production, written and directed by Clyde Hayes. Inspired by a true story, and as demonstrated via video projection, men have always dreamt of flying with proper apparatus attached to their body. In this case, the RB005 is the prototype Rocket Belt, which will mean fame and fortune to this motley group of small time con men and two women.

Gathered around Roy (John Joyce) are cohorts Michael Maize (Jogger), and Chad Dossett (Curtis), later joined by Mark Irvingsen (Bert) who has just arrived carrying a suitcase. At the home of Perry (Lyle Skosey) and wife Billie (Kirsten Roeters), these men are under the impression Perry and Billie are big investors and can fork over the $150,000 Bert wants before he will turn over the RB005.

As Bert exclaims more than once, “Who ARE these people?” meaning Perry and Billie, it’s because their identity changes several times.

Several actors stand out for exceptional intensity and charisma. Veleeta DaCosta (Deena) in front of the microphone sings the sultry “Guns of Brixton.” (Speaking of guns, there are guns and stun guns used to get information out of tied-up Bert.) Roeters, in her scene with Deena, adds erotic tension. Skosey convincingly portrays passion for human flight. And Joyce commands the stage exploding with anger and frustration. Director Hayes is a gifted choreographer and moves his actors about seamlessly." -- Tolucan Times
